We all talk about change, but what are we really doing individually as well as corporately within the Body of Christ to initiate a global transformation where racial, gender, and nationality divisions are completely dissolved. How do we essentially take the initial steps to actually break down the barriers and MAKE IT HAPPEN? I believe all the answers we need are present right in the Word of God.
The Word of God gives critical insight into how we should begin making this spiritual revolution a reality in our daily life.
Colossians 3:8-11 in the Amplified Bible tells us starting with verse 8:
“But now put away and rid yourselves [completely] of all these things: anger, rage, bad feeling toward others, curses and slander, and foulmouthed abuse and shameful utterances from your lips!
(9) Do not lie to one another, for you have stripped off the old (unregenerate) self with its evil practices.
(10) And have clothed yourselves with the new [spiritual self], which is [ever in the process of being] renewed and remolded into [fuller and more perfect knowledge upon] knowledge after the image (the likeness) of Him Who created it.
(11)[In this new creation all distinctions vanish.] There is no room for and there can be neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, [nor difference between nations whether alien] barbarians or Scythians [who are the most savage of all], nor slave or free man; but Christ is all and in all [everything and everywhere, to all men, without distinction of person].
These four scriptural verses contain a divine set of instructions for all within the Body of Christ. If we are true believers in God’s Word, then we must be obedient to follow what His Holy Word commands us to do. The Gospel has the power to tear down any and all barriers. Paul was expressed the importance of not focusing on the categories of race, ethnic background, gender, socioeconomic status, or an individual’s background, because the Gospel of Jesus Christ defines us all as being one class of believers.
We must embrace all people of every race, every culture, and from every nation. Remember, “Christ is all, and in all.” [Colossians 3:10 KJV]
